graphic works by Niklāvs Strunke from the collection of the University of Latvia Library

We are proud to announce that four graphic works by the outstanding Latvian artist Niklāvs Strunke (1894–1966) from the collection of the University of Latvia Library have been included in the ambitious exhibition "The Light of Italy: from Fattori to Morandi".

These unique works – cartoons of three prominent Italian modernist artists and one sketch of theater scenery – were created during Strunke's travels in Italy (1923–1925). They reflect the inspiration and mastery of the artist's Italian period.

Interestingly, these works, along with many other drawings by Strunke, were once in the collection of artist, journalist and art collector Albert Prande (1893–1957).

The exhibition is on view in the main building of the Latvian National Museum of Art until November 30. We invite everyone to visit the exhibition and learn about Niklāvas Strunke's significant contribution to Latvian and international art!
