1. The policy of the E-resource Repository of the University of Latvia (UL) defines the scope, tasks and responsibilities, as well as legal, for legal, management and development requirements.
2. The Repository aims to enhance the University’s international visibility, to provide global, free online access to institutions scientific and research output, thus contributing to their distribution, re-use, impact and citation.
3. The Repository provides an open access platform to capture, store, index, and distribute globally a wide range of UL research outputs.
4. Content
4.1. The repository accepts research digital format outputs of UL personnel in a types:
4.1.1. publications in journals and other serial;
4.1.2. monographs and books;
4.1.3. monograph / book chapters;
4.1.4. conference papers;
4.1.5. teaching & learning resources;
4.1.6. thesis and disertations;
4.1.7. master's, bachelor's and other students' papers;
4.1.8. research reports and datasets;
4.1.9. videos;
4.1.10. images and other.
5. All material in the Repository contains metadata (bibliographic details), which are made available for harvesting by search engines. Wherever possible, the full text of the material is also made freely available, subject to copyright law and publishers’ licence agreements.
6. The Repository is managed in accordance with the Latvian copyright law and uder existing laws and regulations of UL.
7. All material placed in a repository are accessible by using site of repository and search engines such as Google, BASE, OpenAIRE, OAIster etc.
8. Submittion
8.1. Submittion in to repository can be done by both the authors and for the operation authorized persons.
8.2. All items contain metadata appropriate to international standards (Dublin Core).
8.3. Metadata required fields are: author, title, publication date, language code (ISO), document type, keywords and identifier (ISSN / ISBN, DOI, URI, etc.). Publications that have no access to full-text, shall be added the abstract (in Latvian and English).
8.4. In the repository cam be deposited research outputs of UL personnel in a file format:
8.4.1. PDF (pdf);
8.4.2. ODF (odt, ods, odp);
8.4.3. HTML (htm, html);
8.4.4. XML (xml);
8.4.5. Text (txt, asc);
8.4.6. JPG (jpeg, jpg, .jpe jfif, .jfi, .jif), PNG (png), TIFF (tiff, tif);
8.4.7. WAV (wav) un AIFF (aiff, aif, aifc);
8.4.8. MPEG (mpeg, mpg, mpe) and other file formats.
9. Preservation
9.1. The repository will try to ensure continued readability and accessibility.
9.2. Items will be migrated to new file formats where necessary.
9.3. The repository regularly backs up its files according to current best practice.
9.4. The each item will be assigned a persistent identifier that will always point the object and/or its metadata.
9.5. Items may not normally be removed from the e-resource repository of the University of Latvia.
9.6. In the event of the Repository being closed down, the database will be transferred to another appropriate archive.
