Scopus is a bibliographic and citation database of multidisciplinary scientific publications by the publishing company Elsevier, containing entries for more than 21 000 journals, 86 000 e-books and 6.8 million conference proceedings, as well as 27 million patents. Scopus also provides article summaries, and it is possible to obtain full-text articles from such publishers as ScienceDirect, SAGE Journals and others. Full texts of articles can be downloaded only from those journals that are available in the University of Latvia subscribed databases or open access.
The database allows you to search by keywords, authors, organizations and other criteria. The citation index of journals and articles is shown, and it is possible perform a visual analysis of journals as well.
Scopus, similarly to Web of Science, provides the academic and administrative staff of the University of Latvia with unified contractual information on publications in the most important scientific journals and their citation, which allows to evaluate the scientific achievements of the authors of the publications.

Attention! As of May 1st, 2025, the generative artificial intelligence tool Scopus AI is available in the Scopus database. Scopus AI is an intuitive generative artificial intelligence tool that extracts information exclusively from the abstract and citation database Scopus. It is a research assistant that helps conduct research more efficiently by quickly gathering reliable information, as well as highlighting the most important keywords, most influential papers, leading experts, and related queries.
The analytical tool SciVal is also available in Scopus. It allows you to select and analyze data on scientific achievements at global, national, and organizational levels. Its functionality allows you to retrieve reports and visual information on the performance of more than 6000 scientific institutions, as well as to identify trends and cooperation opportunities. You can connect to SciVal with the username and password of your personal profile created in Scopus.
