Until the 31st of December, 2022, Library at the University of Latvia (UL) is providing trial access to Wenxinge Full-Text Database of Chinese & Japanese Ancient Books.

Wenxinge Full-Text Database of Chinese & Japanese Ancient Books provides full-text access to a number of collections of ancient Chinese and Japanese books including more than 30,000 types of ancient books covering history, politics, economics, religion, philosophy, literature, ethnicity and geography, and includes texts from the period before the Qin dynasty to the time of the Republic of China. The Wenxinge database includes subsections including:

  • Taoist Classic Complete Works (道教典籍全书(含正统道藏和道藏辑要))
  • Sibu Congkan (四部丛刊)
  • Historical Data of Ming and Qing Dynasty (明清史料)
  • Ancient Books of Japan (日本古典书籍)
  • China local gazetteers Series 1(中国地方志第一集)
  • Ancient Opera Series (古本戏曲丛刊)

The Wenxinge database is similar to the Diaolong Database of Chinese & Japanese Ancient Books, as it offers all the texts of the Dialong database, adding subsections such as Japanese Kaitokudo (怀德堂) book collections, Qing Dynasty(清代诗文汇编) Poetry Compilation and Ancient Novel Collection and Opera Series (古本小说戏曲). In the database, the ancient texts are available both scanned and digitized, so that they are easier to understand.

The Wenxinge database in is Chinese.

Access to the database is provided until the 31st of December, 2022.

Access to the database is provided only through the UL WIFI network.
