As the summer period approaches, the University of Latvia Library is gradually adjusting its working hours, taking into account the end of the study process and the decrease in academic activity. During this time, some libraries continue to operate with minor changes, while in July and August most libraries are closed.
In June:
All branch libraries have normal working hours, except:
- Social Sciences Library:
- June 1-14, weekdays 9:00-19:00, Saturdays 10:00-15:00;
- June 15-28, weekdays 10:00-18:00, Saturday, June 20, 10:00-15:00, Saturday, June 27 (postponed working day) 9:00-14:00;
- Aspazijas Boulevard Library will be open on weekdays from 10:00 to 18:00, on Saturdays from 9:00 to 17:00.
Changes in all libraries:
- On June 19, working hours: 9:00-13:00;
- On June 22, 23 and 24 – libraries are closed;
- On June 27, all libraries will be open from 9:00-14:00.
July, August
Library at Aspazijas Boulevard, Library of Humanities, Library of Education Sciences and Psychology, Library of Social Sciences and Library of BA School of Business and Finance are closed from June 29 to August 25.
Misiņš Library and Library of Rare Editions and Manuscripts “Bibliotheca Rigensis” are closed from June 29 to July 31, as well as on August 24 and 25. A visit to the Austrian and Swiss Reading Room must be booked in advance at misinabiblioteka@lu.lv or +371 25746866. A visit to the Rare Books and Manuscripts Library “Bibliotheca Rigensis” must be booked at least 1 working day in advance by writing to aija.taimina@lu.lv or calling +371 27096121.
In the summer, librarians provide customer service:
- Library on Raiņa Boulevard from June 29 to July 10, working hours on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Raina Boulevard Library is closed from July 11 to August 25.
- Library of Natural Sciences and Library at the House of Science will be open from June 29 to August 21, working days from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Library of Natural Sciences, Library at the House of Science is available to LU students and employees 24/7 with a valid LU ID.
